Humanity First

Humanity First Liberia officially inaugurated its first Cassava Processing plant in Lyean town, Dewon District, Bomi County on Saturday, February 07, 2009. The program was attended by the Liberian Information Minister, Dr. Laurence Bropleh, who served as the keynote speaker, Executives and Volunteers of Humanity First Liberia, elders and citizens of Bomi County

Speaking on the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Muhammad Akram Bajwah, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Humanity First Liberia introduced the services of Humanity First in the World and especially in Liberia.  He said that Humanity First is working in-line with the Government’s Poverty Reduction Strategy by introducing agricultural projects which will help local farmers become self sufficient and become encouraged to do large scale farming.

The Plant has the capacity to produce 20 bags of grated cassava per hour. There is a full facility of pressing, fermenting and patching the garted cassava to become farina. The pant will serve Lyean town and all surrounding towns by processing their cassava into Farina and other by products.

Information Minister, Dr. Laurence Bropleh served as the chief launcher. He brought special greetings from the President, Her Excellency Madame Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and commended the works of Humanity First Liberia for empowering the citizens to help themselves. He said the work of Humanity First in Liberia has always been positive and the government of Liberia is pleased with the level of engagement.

Dr. Bropleh also challenged the citizens to join the government in the campaign to make the nation self-sufficient in food production.
